NRL Round 18 Betting Preview

FREE Best Bet of the Round

Record: 7-1-8 (55%)

Sharks -3.5 First Half @ 1.88 Lads/Neds

Sharks -3.5 Second Half @ 1.82 Lads/Neds

Took a bye in round 17 and looking for a bounceback after an indifferent run of results. I’m backing a double play here and going chips in on the Sharks to win and cover in each half respectively.

After losing 4 of their past 5 outright and their last two at home, this is a good spot for them to bounce back against an inferior opponent. This is a similar game to the one that transpired a fortnight ago, where the Fins were an 8.5-point underdog in this very stadium. I don’t think there is anyone who rates the Fins and Titans as equal teams this year which shows how recency bias can influence a betting market. This spread on merit should be 10.5 and with the Sharks one of the healthiest in the competition, this is a time for them to resurge. I understand Brimson is returning but with Jayden Campbell out, these are probably a wash and I don’t upgrade the Gold Coast substantially. Having a bye straight after a club record win in my opinion is a bit of a negative and I could question their focus over the bye period and it wouldn’t surprise me if the players took it as a bit of a holiday period. The Sharks will be switched on and I want to be backing them for a full 80 minute performance and to lay under a try in each half is my angle.
